Connect Google Search Console

The keywords you track in TrackWP are WordPress.org searches. Google Search Console adds the other half: the Google searches that bring people to your own site, with clicks, impressions and average position. TrackWP connects with read-only access and shows the figures on the Google tab, beside your Google rankings.

Connect it

  1. Open SEO in the sidebar, choose a product, and open the Google tab.
  2. In the Google Search Console panel, click Connect Search Console.
  3. Sign in with the Google account that owns your site’s Search Console property, and allow read access.
  4. Back in TrackWP, choose your site under Property and click Use this property.
  5. TrackWP imports the last 28 days. Refresh after a minute to see them.

If the panel says the Google account has no verified Search Console properties, verify your site in Search Console first, or connect with the account that has it.

What you see

  • Clicks, 28 days and Impressions, 28 days for the whole property, and when it was last updated.
  • Your keywords on Google: for each of your tracked keywords, up to 15, the Google search containing it that brought the most clicks.
  • Top searches: the 15 searches with the most clicks.

Each table lists Clicks, Impressions and Avg. position.

How it updates

TrackWP imports the last 28 days again every night. Search Console’s own figures run about two days behind, so the newest days fill in later. Imported rows are kept for 90 days.

Good to know

  • The connection belongs to your account, not one product: one property serves every product you track.
  • To use a different property, click Disconnect and connect again. Disconnecting removes the imported data too.
  • Search Console is on FullCharge; on other plans the panel offers Upgrade to FullCharge.
  • The rest of the Google tab, on Boost and FullCharge, shows where your WordPress.org page, your site and your rivals rank on Google for your keywords. It checks the first 5 keywords of each product on Boost and the first 15 on FullCharge, every week, on Google in the United States in English.
  • Add your site’s address under Your site on the same tab to see its Google positions too.
