Track mentions in AI assistants
Updated Oct 22, 2026
More people ask AI assistants which plugin to use. The AI answers tab asks your questions every week, with web search on, and shows which products each assistant names, in what order, and which pages it leans on.
Track a question
- Open SEO in the sidebar, choose your product, and open the AI answers tab.
- Type a question the way your users would ask it, such as “What is the best contact form plugin for WordPress?”, and click Track question. Or click one of the suggestions next to Try:.
- Answers usually arrive within a minute. Until then, each assistant shows Asking….
Questions can be 8 to 200 characters long, and each one is asked again every week. To stop tracking one, click its trash icon.
Read the answers
- Each question shows how many assistants named you, such as “Named by 2 of 4 assistants”.
- Each assistant’s row says your product was named #2, for example, or Not named, with an arrow when your place changed since its last answer. Cited means it linked to your WordPress.org page or your site. Rivals it named appear beside you.
- Click Read to see the full answer and its sources.
- Share of voice shows the share of this week’s answers naming each product, and your own trend week by week.
- Where you’re missing lists the pages the assistants cite in answers that leave you out: lists, reviews and comparisons worth getting onto.
How mentions are found
TrackWP looks for your brand (your WordPress.org name up to the first dash, bar or colon), your WordPress.org address, and your site’s domain. Add your site under Your site on the Google tab so links to it count too. The products compared with you are the rivals you watch.
Keys
Each assistant is on when there’s a key for it: your own, added in Settings → AI keys, or TrackWP’s. An OpenAI key runs ChatGPT, and Gemini, Claude (Anthropic) and Perplexity each use their own. With no key at all, the tab says so, and your questions wait until there is one.
Plans and alerts
AI answers are on FullCharge, with up to 25 questions tracked at a time across all your products. You get an alert when your product appears in, or drops out of, an assistant’s answer.
Good to know
- Each assistant is asked through its own API with web search and no account history, the way a new user would ask.
- Answers vary from one ask to the next, so watch the trend more than a single week.
- Accounts that track the same question share its answers, so each question is asked once a week.
