Decay Countdown
Know before a plugin's search score falls
WordPress.org search lowers a plugin's score 180 days after its last release, and again when “Tested up to” falls behind. Enter a plugin to see the dates.

Inside the Decay Countdown
180-day countdown
How many days the plugin has left at full score since its last release.
The decay dates
When the factor reaches ×0.90, ×0.75 and ×0.50 if nothing is released.
Tested up to
Whether the readme says it is tested with the current WordPress, and what being behind costs.
What resets it
Any new release brings the factor back to ×1.00 for another 180 days.
Alerts
An email before the date for every product you track (instant alerts from Boost).
Exact maths
Computed with the same decay as WordPress.org's open-source search code.
Questions
Is the 180 days real?
Yes. WordPress.org's plugin search applies an exponential decay to the last-updated date: full score for 180 days, then it halves every further 360 days. See the Methodology page for the code.
Does any release reset it?
Yes. The factor uses the date of the last update, so any new version on WordPress.org brings it back to ×1.00.
What about "Tested up to"?
Search also compares "Tested up to" with the current WordPress branch. Within 0.1 there is no penalty; beyond that the score falls. Updating the readme is enough, no new code needed.
Does it apply to themes?
This countdown is for plugin search. Theme search ranks differently.
