ChatHelp 3.7.3Latest
ChatHelp 3.7.1
- Added: QR Code on Desktop (Settings › WhatsApp URL), off by default. Desktop visitors who hover a chat button, the Send Message button or an agent see a QR code to scan with their phone and continue the chat in WhatsApp. Works for WhatsApp numbers (with the pre-filled message) and groups (invite li…
- Added: QR Code Caption setting for the text under the QR code (“Scan the code” by default; leave it empty to show the QR code only).
- Added: Form Chat and Pre-Chat Message show the QR code only after every required field is filled in correctly, with the same message the form would send. The form, its validation and lead saving work as before.
- Added: The QR code also appears on WooCommerce, shortcode, Elementor and block chat buttons.
- Added: The QR code respects GDPR consent and agent availability, never loads on phones, and shows in the admin Live Preview.
ChatHelp 3.7.0
- Improved: The plugin now passes the WordPress.org Plugin Check with no errors or code warnings. Request values are sanitized, output is escaped, and database queries are prepared.
- Improved: Chat form entries are cleaned before they are saved as leads; line breaks are kept.
- Improved: The Help page shows plugin icons provided by the WordPress.org API instead of loading hard-coded remote images.
- Improved: Translations are loaded by WordPress itself, as they are for every plugin hosted on WordPress.org.
- Fixed: Filling in message variables on a page with no WooCommerce product could clear WooCommerce’s global product for the rest of the page.
- Fixed: Analytics date ranges no longer shift if another plugin changes PHP’s default time zone.
- Changed: Minimum WordPress version is now 5.7, which the plugin already needed.
ChatHelp 3.6.1
- Added: Form field variables by label — {name}, {message}, {your_email} — shown in the Form Message Template’s Insert variable menu. Fields sharing a label are numbered in order: {name_1}, {name_2}.
- Added: {time} variable for the time the message is sent.
- Changed: {date} now outputs only the date; use {time} for the time. Both follow the site timezone and the date/time formats in Settings → General.
- Fixed: Label-based field variables from older versions (e.g. {name}, {message}) output nothing in the WhatsApp message. The {text_1}-style variables and {form_fields} keep working.
- Fixed: Form fields sharing the same label overwrote each other’s value on submission.
- Fixed: Text typed by a visitor containing a variable such as {ip} is no longer replaced.
ChatHelp 3.6.0
- Added: Import/Export under Settings — move the Global Chat, Custom Chats, Leads, WooCommerce and plugin settings between sites (or keep a backup) as one bundle or per type, in JSON, CSV or XML. Replaces the per-page Backup panels, which have been removed.
- Added: “Add Chat” now asks for the essentials first — title, chat experience, WhatsApp type and number/group — creates the chat published, and opens it ready to edit.
- Added: An Assignment tab in the chat editor. A chat’s placement rules can be set where the chat is built; they stay in sync with the Assign Chats screen.
- Added: The WooCommerce screen now explains itself when WooCommerce is missing and can install and activate it, instead of showing settings with nothing to configure.
- Changed: “Layout” is now “Chat” throughout, and the list’s Layout column is “Type” — it names the chat experience, not the record.
- Changed: The chat editor is rebuilt on the Global Chat layout: a section rail, one record toolbar (back, title, status, preview, Save) and the same field surface as the settings pages.
- Changed: Custom Chats and Leads share one card with the filters, a status tab strip and a Status column; both screens now show a first-run panel instead of an empty table.
- Changed: Settings sections renamed — “Advanced Controls” is now “WhatsApp URL” and “Additional CSS & JS” is now “Advanced”, with Clean-up Data on Deletion moved under it. Get Help now opens inside the settings screen and is reachable from its rail.
- Changed: Loading states across the admin: skeletons now match the screen that replaces them, and the Dashboard keeps its figures on screen with a progress bar while a filter refetches.
- Changed: The PRO badge on locked settings is now gold with a crown, so it no longer reads as more disabled text.
- Fixed: Menus and dialogs no longer pick up WordPress admin’s blue link colour and focus ring.
- Fixed: Settings pages no longer overflow by the height of the sub-tab row, and the section rail no longer flickers when opening Get Help.
ChatHelp 3.5.9
- Fixed: “Open in New Tab” was ignored on sites where the Settings page had never been saved: the switch showed as on in the admin, but WhatsApp still opened in the same tab and the visitor left the site. The front end now uses the same default the setting itself declares.
- Fixed: After a chat form was submitted, WhatsApp could still open in the current tab (or be blocked by the browser’s popup blocker) even with “Open in New Tab” on, because the link was opened only after the submission had been saved. The new tab is now opened as part of the click itself.
- Removed: The “Loading Text” setting. It never took effect in any released version, and it cannot be shown now that the WhatsApp tab is opened as part of the click — that tab takes focus immediately, so a label change on the button behind it is never seen. The setting has been dropped rather than le…
ChatHelp 3.5.8
- Fixed: With Auto Open Popup enabled and the “Chat Button” chat experience selected, the floating button switched to its close icon even though it has no popup to close. The button is now left out of the open/close toggle.
ChatHelp 3.5.7
- Fixed: Submitting the chat form on the front end opened a WhatsApp error page (“This page doesn’t exist”) instead of the conversation. The button’s WhatsApp number was written into the page with extra quote characters, so the generated wa.me link was rejected. Testing the same number from the WordP…
- Fixed: WhatsApp numbers entered with a leading “+”, spaces, dashes or brackets are now normalised to digits before the chat link is built, so formatted numbers no longer produce a broken link.
- Fixed: The “URL for Desktop” setting fell back to WhatsApp Web when the option had never been saved, even though the setting’s own default is “API”.
- Fixed: WhatsApp button block now strips formatting from the number and URL-encodes the prefilled message, so messages containing “#” or “&” are no longer cut short. Existing blocks are upgraded automatically and will not show the “unexpected or invalid content” warning.
- Fixed: The WhatsApp icon on the WhatsApp Button block showed as an empty square in the block editor, and was missing entirely for logged-out visitors on the front end. The icon font is now loaded in both places.
- Fixed: With Icon Background enabled, the block editor preview ignored the chosen Icon Color and Icon Background Color and showed the button’s own colours instead. The preview now matches the front end.
- Changed: Buttons now output only the analytics attribute that matches the selected chat type — an empty data-group no longer appears on number buttons, and vice versa.
- Changed: The demo chat agents no longer ship with a placeholder WhatsApp number. Agents left blank fall back to the Global Chat number.
ChatHelp 3.5.6
- Fixed: Email, Phone Number and Select form fields were selectable in the Form Fields editor but never rendered on the front end (only Text and Textarea did), and their values were left out of the WhatsApp message. All five field types now work in the free version.
ChatHelp 3.5.5
- Fixed: When ChatHelp and Better Chat Support for Messenger were both active with their bubbles set to the same side, the two floating bubbles sat on top of each other and both chat boxes could be open at once. The bubbles now stack automatically, and opening one chat box closes and hides the other…
- Fixed: PHP 8.1+ deprecation notice (“Automatic conversion of false to array”) raised by the database upgrade routine on sites where the settings option had never been saved.
ChatHelp 3.5.4
- Added: Default agent avatar now shows the agent’s initials instead of the plugin’s built-in placeholder photo when the Agent Photo Type is set to “Default”.
- Added: Show Close Icon option for the chat box header (Single Form and Agent layouts) — adds a small × button so visitors can close the popup without clicking the floating bubble again.
- Improved: Back/close navigation icons switched from the bundled icon font to inline SVG.
- Fixed: Primary/secondary chat colors fell back incorrectly when a color field was saved as an empty string, instead of using the plugin’s default teal color.
- Changed: Default agent subtitle text changed from “Typically replies within a day” to “Typically replies within minutes”.
ChatHelp 3.5.3
- Fixed: Assign Layouts — the “Select Post(s)” field now follows the row’s “Post Type” selection (e.g. picking Page lists Pages), instead of always listing Posts regardless of the chosen type.
- Fixed: The “Floating Chat” sidebar group (Global Chat, Chat Layouts, Leads) collapsed after refreshing an admin page instead of staying open, hiding the submenu items until they were reopened.
ChatHelp 3.5.2
- Security: Fixed an authenticated (Contributor and above) stored Cross-Site Scripting vulnerability in the [chat_help] / [ctw] shortcode. The number and group attributes were written into an unquoted data-number / data-group HTML attribute, allowing a crafted value to break out and inject an event h…
ChatHelp 3.5.1
- Fixed: Chat Layouts (and the Dashboard analytics) failed to load with a “Failed to load layouts” error when the site used the “Plain” permalink setting. REST requests are now built with the correct query-string separator so they work under any permalink structure.
- Fixed: Removed the development-only coding-standards packages (PHP_CodeSniffer / WPCS) from the committed vendor directory. Their test fixtures contained sample git merge-conflict markers that some editors flagged as real conflicts. Only the runtime autoloader is now included.
ChatHelp 3.5.0
- Added: Completely redesigned admin built with React — the same modern interface, navigation and page structure as WhatsApp Chat Help Pro.
- Added: Chat Layouts — create and manage multiple floating chat widgets, each with its own layout, agents, appearance and behavior settings, right from the new layout editor.
- Added: Assign Layouts — choose exactly where each saved Chat Layout appears by assigning it to specific posts, pages or WooCommerce content.
- Added: Pro-only options (Multi-Agent, Multi-Agent Form, Dark & Night bubble modes, custom icons, responsive positioning, content visibility rules and more) are now shown in place with a “PRO” badge instead of being hidden, so you can see exactly what Pro adds.
- Improved: Settings are now served over the REST API, which makes the settings pages load and save noticeably faster.
- Improved: The Leads menu item now opens the Leads screen directly.
- Improved: Exporting leads to CSV now shows a progress state and a success or error notification instead of failing silently.
- Improved: Security hardening across the plugin — all dynamic output is escaped and admin redirects use safe redirects, following the WordPress.org Plugin Check recommendations.
- Improved: The WhatsApp Button editor block now uses Block API version 3 for compatibility with the WordPress 7.0 iframe block editor.
- Changed: Webhooks settings are now a Pro feature — the section stays visible as a read-only preview with an Upgrade to Pro panel. (The free version never sent webhook requests; any saved values are preserved.)
- Changed: Removed the legacy Codestar settings framework and unused bundled assets (~2.6 MB smaller download).
- Fixed: The “rate us” prompt in the admin footer could disappear when another installed plugin also overrides the footer text.
- Note: All existing settings are preserved — this release does not change or reset any of your saved options.
ChatHelp 3.4.2
- Fixed: Recommended free plugins grid for admin panel.
ChatHelp 3.4.1
- Added: WhatsApp Group support for the Form Chat, and Pre-Chat Message layouts — on submit, opens a copy-to-clipboard modal with the group invite URL on the “Go to WhatsApp” button.
- Added: Modal CTA inherits the send-button color settings via CSS variables (--wHelp-color-primary, --wHelp-color-secondary, --text-color, --text-hover-color).
- Improved: Form submit pipeline now forwards the WhatsApp type to the backend so the correct URL (number deep-link vs. group invite) is generated server-side.
- Improved: Modal closes via overlay click, close button, Escape key, or after navigating to WhatsApp; clipboard fallback for non-secure contexts and older mobile browsers.
ChatHelp 3.4.0
- Added: Analytics Dashboard — new first-item admin page with real-time visitor, view, and conversion tracking.
- Added: Performance Trendline chart showing visitors, views, conversions, and leads over time with toggle filters.
- Added: Device Breakdown — donut charts showing Desktop, Mobile, and Other device stats.
- Added: Traffic Breakdown section — Countries, Pages, and Browsers analytics (upgrade to Pro to unlock).
- Added: Layout-aware conversion tracking — each chat layout fires conversion at the correct user action moment.
- Added: Dashboard filter by date period (This Week, Last Week, This Month, Last Month, This Year, Last Year, Custom).
ChatHelp 3.3.2
- Added: Theme Style option to choose different chat bubble designs (e.g., Flat and WhatsApp styles).
- Added: Display Notification Icon option to show or hide the notification icon in the interface.
- Fixed: Offline form submit issue.
ChatHelp 3.3.1
- Fixed: WooCommerce quantity form validation issue.
ChatHelp 3.3.0
- Added: New Floating layout called Pre-Chat Message.
- Added: Filter by Agents option in the leads dashboard.
- Fixed: Some documentation page links.
ChatHelp 3.1.7
- Fixed: Minor coding issues.
ChatHelp 3.2.4
- Added: Option to set a different subtitle when offline.
- Fixed: Corrected logic to properly check both conditions for showing or hiding action buttons (e.g., Add to Cart, Checkout).
- Fixed: Resolved an issue where changing primary and secondary colors in the floating layout incorrectly affected WooCommerce button styles.
- Improved: Ensured button styles remain consistent and follow intended color settings across layouts.
ChatHelp 3.2.3
- Added: Button options for the product order thank you page.
ChatHelp 3.2.2
- Fixed: Device visibility issue.
- Fixed: Popup auto-opening bug.
